Residential Wine Cellar in a High Rise Condominium Atlanta Georgia

Residential Wine Cellar in a High Rise Condominium Atlanta Georgia

I’d like to take you on a tour of our latest custom wine cellars in Atlanta, Georgia project. This residential wine cellar was actually created in a high-rise condominium.  It created a few situations but nothing we couldn’t overcome.

This particular residential wine cellar holds a total of 997 bottles.  The room that this wine cellar was created in had four structural columns.  Actually, I believe two of the columns may have been structural, the others were not, but in order to make this look correct, we kept the columns and worked around them.

We added custom wine racks between the columns on the two sides of the back wall and then on the front wall some of the columns are 15 inches deep, we added a horizontal rack.  You’ll see that as we go along with the drawings.

You’ll notice in the drawings each elevation is designated by a letter.  The left and right walls are elevation A, the back wall is elevation B and the front sections here are elevation D, I don’t know what happened to elevation C.
Elevation A, the left and right walls have X bins on the bottom.  These are lattice X bins so it has a support rack where the back wall comes out this is not seen in the room when it’s completed.  You have a high reveal display row with a light balance above it and 750ml individual bottles above that.   These custom wine racks we made are 11 3/4 inches deep, simply so that they fit in with the columns.  You have a 1 1/2 inch toe kick and a 2 1/4 inch crown molding.

We’ll go to elevation B, the back wall.  We have a tall arch with a pot light opening and light valances over the display row, 750ml bottles up above, three X-cubes, and room four actually for case storage.  This bottom section is double deep.  Therefore, your X- bins are double deep as well as your case storage. It includes a tabletop area; the upper section with the 750s is single deep.

The elevation D is the little area right where you come into the room, next to the first columns on the left to the right.   Here we have horizontal display racks where your bottles are stored horizontally.

This is the overhead view of the room.  You can see your bottles can go in from the ends on this particular horizontal rack.

This is the back wall, you can see that we have lattice X bins and lattice case storage below.  Looking toward the custom wine cellar door, you can see that we have used the Tuscan door; it’s a square door with arched glass.  The whisper cooling unit is located above the custom wine cellar door.

This is your left wall and this is your right wall and back wall, and you can see we have the lattice bins, the 750s above, and the arch.

We are going to do a quick walk of some of the completed photos.  Here you can see the door.  This door is a Tuscan and Knotty Alder has the black hand-forged wrought iron, has a square top and arched glass and the stain is early American with number 850 moldings.

Wine Cabinets & Wine Racks – Excellent Alternative Wine Storage Solutions

There are a few different ways of storing wines.  They can be kept in a wine cellar, in custom wine racks perched on a kitchen countertop, placed in a corner of a room, or stacked carefully in a wine cabinet.  Of all the aforementioned wine storage solutions, wine cellars are deemed the best place to store and age wines because they are designed in a climate-controlled environment.

Since not all wine collectors have access to a private wine cellar, wine cabinets Chicago can serve as efficient and affordable wine storage solutions.  A wine cabinet functions like a mini wine cellar because it can provide the best possible wine storage environment on a smaller scale.  Hence, they can be used for either short-term or long-term storage.

There are two types of wine cabinets:  passive and active or refrigerated.  Passive wine cabinets are not affixed with temperature and humidity controls.  Most of these cabinets are constructed from wood and have various total bottle capacities.  These storage cabinets are ideal for holding consumable wines.

Like active wine cellars, refrigerated wine cabinets are equipped with cooling systems that help maintain the temperature between 50 and 59 degrees Fahrenheit, and regulate humidity levels within 60% to 75%.  Fluctuating temperatures can cause premature aging in wines, while constant humidity changes can dry out the corks and cause molds to grow.

Some wine cabinets have dual zone features that provide independent temperature controls.  This setup allows for two separate storage compartments for different types of wines.  These wine storage solutions are also known for their vibration-free and whisper-quiet operation.

To protect wine bottles from incandescent light, wine cabinets are outfitted with LED-based lighting.  LED bulbs generate less heat and don’t give off ultraviolet rays.  Some of these cabinets have adjustable light features that can help minimize the exposure of wine bottles to light.

A wine cabinet comes with custom wine racks that allow for horizontal storage.  Laying wine bottles on their side allows the cork to continuously come in contact with the wine.  Keeping the cork moist is essential to preserving the taste and flavor of wines.  A dried-out cork can promote oxidation that could potentially ruin the quality of wines.

Wine cabinets are built with proper ventilation to facilitate better air circulation.  This will prevent unwanted smells and odors from penetrating the cork and spoiling the wine.  Good ventilation will also restrict possible mold infestation.

They are also multifunctional because some of them are designed with stemware racks that allow wine glasses to be hung right in the cabinet.  They may also come with drawers that can provide storage space for various wine accessories such as corkscrews, stoppers, decanters, and other wine-related items.

A wine cabinet is available in different storage capacities.  They can accommodate regular-sized bottles to magnums.  They have sufficient space to store a few bottles to over a hundred wines.  In terms of aesthetics, their sleek and stylish designs can match and complement any home décor.

Wine cabinets are convenient and economical wine storage options for wine enthusiasts who can’t afford their own wine cellars.  They provide a climate-controlled environment wherein wines can mature nicely.  These cabinets also protect wines from breakage by providing secured storage spaces.

Showcase Your Wines w/ Chicago Commercial Wine Storage Racks

Wine storage racks are excellent management tools for organizing and displaying a large number of wine collectibles.  They are built to facilitate the proper positioning of wine bottles during storage.

Most racking systems allow bottles to be stored on their side to maintain wine contact with the cork which prevents it from becoming brittle.  A dried-out cork can cause oxidation and irreversibly damage the wine.

A myriad of styles and sizes are available on the market that can accommodate a variety of storage needs and requirements.  Wine cellar racks are manufactured using various wood species and metal pieces.  Each material has its own advantages and disadvantages, but can nevertheless produce wine storage racks that are both functional and visually appealing.

There are two kinds of wine racks: those which are designed for residential homes or private wine cellars and those which are for commercial display and storage.  Chicago commercial wine racks are commonly used by wine merchants and restaurateurs to display and showcase a wide selection of wines to their customers.

Although they are mostly used in the wine retail and hospitality industries, there are some private wine collectors who invest in commercial racking because of its strength and enduring quality.

Commercial custom wine racks are similar to residential wine racking systems in terms of functionality and appearance.  However, commercial wine racks are built to be more durable and sturdy.  They are made this way in order to withstand damage and deterioration due to regular use.

The commercial wine display furniture is designed to hold a vast selection of wine bottles in varying sizes. Commercial wine racks provide various racking designs and storage options for collectors who are in the wine retail or restaurant business.  Racking systems for commercial use allow wine bottles to be displayed label forward to make it easier for customers to locate their favorite brands of wine.

Commercial diamond cube bins are also available for bulk storage and case lots.  A wine cube bin has twice the storage capacity of a single bottle wine rack and takes up less floor space.

How wine bottles are displayed inside a retail store can greatly influence the buying decision of customers.  Hence, commercial wine racks are not only designed to hold wine bottles properly but also enhance the visual appeal of the wine selection.

These Chicago wine storage racks come in a variety of styles that can address display requirements and space constraints.  Some commercial racking systems are made to fit against a wall or allow for aisle displays.

There are commercial wine racks that are specifically made for chic restaurants.  Most of these display devices have a contemporary look that can provide elegance and striking appeal to any establishment.  A growing trend in the restaurant business is the installation of active Chicago commercial wine cellars, which are equipped with wine cooling units to ensure optimum conditions.

Since these commercial wine enclaves are visible throughout the dining area, it is important to pick out the right kind of commercial wine display furniture to install as this can lend character and improve the aesthetic quality of the entire space.
